January 2024 - Family Life Park Update

While the Campus Renewal project has been progressing in the background since board approval in September, the site will be mobilized for construction on January 25. Site fencing will be set up and the construction crew will be on site.

February will be the month for demolition and rough field grading on the site. The Bethany Fire Department will have access to the structures targeted for demolition and will conduct training sessions for their fire fighting staff.

Although the playground equipment will be out of commission during construction, access to the Floyd Center will be fully open. The After School Program and Tulakes Community Church will continue to meet in the Floyd Center throughout the project. The Floyd multipurpose room will go into renovation around the middle of February and will be unavailable for four months.

In general, April work will focus on park details—playground installation, sidewalks, sports fields hardscaping—ending with installation of sod and landscaping at the end of the month through May.

Then we wait, allowing the sod to take root and mature as we also make new recreation ministries plans for a fall grand opening of the Family Life Park. Natalie Espinoza, Director of Recreation Ministries shared, "We are beyond excited to see the Family Life Park come to life over the next several months. While the park construction is underway we are currently focusing on establishing park policies and procedures with staff leadership and the church board. We are already looking forward to the Family Life Park grand opening in the fall."
