The Family Life Park

Spring and summer 2024 is construction time for the new Family Life Park at BFC! During March, April and May, you will see the ground moving! New sidewalks and accessible parking spaces will be built. A play-and-gathering area will be built. And just in time for a summer growth period, sod will be planted for the new sports fields. During a summertime “do-not-disturb period,” we will be giving the sod time to grow deep, and putting the finishing touches on the play-and-gathering area - all in preparation for the Grand Opening of the Family Life Park in the fall!

Aerial map showing the layout of the area around Floyd Center, with labeled zones for fields A, pathways B, a marked circle C, and streets D. Includes nearby streets NW 41st Street, N Beaver Street, and NW 39th Expressway, plus a parking area near N Willow Ave.

The primary feature of the new space will be three outdoor sports fields, which will rotate from baseball to T-ball to soccer, depending on the season. Currently, the BFC sports fields are located off-campus—south of NW 39th Expressway, west of Rockwell. Although this location accommodates our sports ministry, the terrain is rough and hazardous, the parking is inadequate and there are many improvements needed for effective recreation ministries. The creation of the Family Life Park will enable our fields to be upgraded, provide ADA-compliant access, and make necessary improvements to create a safe area for families. Accessible parking will be located across N Willow Avenue.

A

The Family Life Park will contain a large playground with gathering spaces for friends and family. The existing play equipment will be moved and reinstalled in the new playground. The park will be fenced for safety.

B

An existing Floyd Center classroom will be renovated, making it an indoor-outdoor space that creates direct access to the restroom and a first-aid station already in place. This multi-purpose room will open up to the sports fields, offering concession service in a cafe setting for participants and guests.

C

The first section of a whole-campus, measured walking trail will surround the park. The long-term vision for the BFC campus is renovation of the parking lot, with new green space across the entire campus. A full-campus walking trail gives us the opportunity to walk alongside anyone on our campus, both in step and in spirit.

D

High-priority users of the Family Life Park will be the community-wide open teams of our BFC Recreation Ministries and the Bethany First Church After School Program.

Sports

Our sports programs are built around giving kids of all skill levels the opportunity to play, learn sportsmanship, and have fun! Our hope is that every child will find belonging here. This is a great way for the local community to come together and connect with one another.
