We take your child’s security very seriously. Our Nursery area is a very secure place! Before you enter, every child must be checked into our Shelby System. The first time you are here, our kind assistants will help you input all your information into the computer in the North Lobby. This takes just a few minutes. After that, check-in is a breeze. Our Touch screen computers take your phone number or last name, you tell it who all is here in your family, it prints a fresh nametag and fresh receipt for each child. Each week the number on the receipts varies. All who enter must show our Gatekeeper a receipt.
If challenges come up with your child, we will put that number on our monitors and ask that you come back to our department and help us. The monitors in the sanctuary are on either side of the platform, tucked at the bottom of the big screens. If you are in Sunday School, the Nursery Director will come inform you of your child’s needs.
The parent must show the receipt to our Gatekeeper to enter our part of the ‘House”. We cannot let siblings under the age of 18 drop off or pick up your child.
Upon arrival at the child’s room, a parent must sign the child in on the form located at the door of each room. Please sign the child in each time you use the nursery, and fill out all portions of the sign-in sheet. This helps us know what your child needs THIS day, and any information that will be helpful.
Please make your goodbyes quick. You are more than welcome to watch your child through the one-way glass, but we ask, for the safety of all the children, that you not open the door at any time or go into the room.
The security receipt MUST be presented to the teacher every time the child is picked up from the nursery. Another adult may pick up your child, if he/she has the receipt.
Please pick up your child immediately following each service. Children look for parents when they know it is time to leave and often feel panic when other parents have arrived and theirs haven’t. Rest assured, when God is working in a mighty way in the sanctuary, we will stay and care for your child!
Background Checks
All of our staff have undergone an interview process, an application process and a nationwide background check. This is all done in an effort to maximize the safety factory for your baby.
All our volunteers have been screened and gone through much of the same process. We love to have parents volunteer in our nursery. If you would be interested, please see the Director for an application.
Note: When you bring your baby to our part of the House, you are welcome to view the interaction between the teachers and the children, or just watch your child play through the one-way glass windows. (Because it’s so much fun, we watch all the time!) But, because of our security and background procedures, we are not able to allow parents to enter the rooms unless they have undergone our processing and it’s their turn to volunteer for the week. Thanks for adhering to this important procedure!
